Quilting Classes…

Bali Sunrise Quilt: This is a lovely colorful wall hanging size quilt that could be used as a small lapsize throw. We used one of  the new ‘batik’ border prints and think it’s very eye catching. We will have kits available it two colorways.

Beginning Patchwork: Step into the world of quilting with this wonderful introductory class. Create a wall hanging while learning to piece by machine. You will learn many tricks of the trade that will make even your first project look good! This class is geared for the beginner who wants to try patchwork piecing or for those who have tried it on their own and been dissatisfied with the final result.

Complete this class by doing some basic machine quilting.

Fabrics are pre-kitted for this class.

HELP!! How To Quilt A Large Quilt On A Household Sewing Machine: Have you quilted on small projects, perhaps even taken a Machine Quilting ‘101’ to learn the basics of machine quilting, but feel you have no idea what to do with a large quilt?

A prerequisite is to have the basic machine quilting knowledge, as this is not a beginning class. Come into the store and show us your pre-pinned quilt, prior to class day and you’ll be properly prepared.

In class you will watch a demonstration on how to maneuver a large quilt. There will be a discussion period to cover ideas of what to quilt on the project.

You will then be ready to begin quilting your project with personal feedback from our instructor Linda. The class will be limited to 4 students.

Jelly Roll Quilt: What a fun quilt to make! Use pre-cut jelly rolls (2 ½ inch wide strips) or cut your own. A great way to use a lot of different prints in a project and still look organized! Any fabric theme would work and you will surely feel very pleased with the end result.

Machine Embroidered Appliqué Quilt: We are using the beautiful embroidery designs from ‘Smith Street Designs’ to create the blocks on an embroidery machine.

We have discovered a simplified method to use these designs and eliminate a number of the usual steps for this technique.

Machine Quilting “101”: Learn techniques to get those quilt tops off the shelves and into use in a fraction of the time of hand quilting. You will experiment with straight and curved line stencils. Try your hand at free motion quilting including the ever popular stippling method using your own machine. You too can have the satisfaction of telling everyone, “I did the whole quilt myself.”  The class fee includes a kit with fabric, batting, stencils, fabric marker and safety pins.

Mocha Meringue Throw: This is a fun “make in a day” or beginner project. The quilt is lap size and comes with a free pattern. Kits are available for a limited time, but you don’t have to like the ‘mocha’ color to whip up this quilt.

One Block Wonders Quilt: This wonderful project is a good one for someone who wants to try something that is just a little different. You use one fabric to work with one shape and make a one-of-a-kind quilt. This is not a beginner project. You’ll know you are a true designer when you finish this project.

Table Toppings Runner: An attractive runner that gives you two different choices for finishing the short ends of the runner. Make it squared or pointed to suit your table.

Totally Triangular Quilt: If  you have been looking for a project to use your favorite large scale print, this could be the answer. The quilt is 57” x 73” and will show off your fabric to perfection.  It would be perfect for many of the oriental or outdoor prints.
