Sewing Machine Tips and
Helpful Hints Tip #3.
Because
we sell quality sewing machines we are frequently asked questions about thread,
needles and of course fabric. We thought it would be of benefit to share some
tips with everyone, regardless of the brand of sewing machine you are using.
Our
tip this time is on taking good care of your sewing machine. A sewing machine
needs some maintenance on your part. Every eight hours of sewing or less you
need to remove the bobbin case and clean thoroughly in the bobbin area with
your lint brush. Change the needle at the same time. Assuming you do this much,
when you sew at home on a regular basis you should also have your machine
serviced approximately once a year. The service technician will take off the
covers and clean thoroughly where you can’t reach with your lint brush. They
will also check and make adjustments as needed.
If
you are using an embroidery machines you put in many more hours of sewing and
embroidery than you used to do when just sewing. Keep in mind that an
embroidery machine may need more frequent service visits than a regular sewing
machine.
If
you are having a problem with any machine, take some basic actions. Re-thread
the top and bobbin. Try a different spool of thread or even change the needle.
Sometimes the fabric/needle combination is the issue. If your machine needs to
see the technician, take a sample of the sewing that concerned you. It can be a
great help to the person doing the service.
Good
sewing machines are not an inexpensive item and like your car the more care you
give the machinery the longer it will remain a close and trusted friend.
